The Vietnamese Air force is part of an international search operation that is looking for clues to where the airliner might have crashed.

The oil slicks were sighted off southern tip of Vietnam and there is no confirmation that it is related to the missing airliner but experts say the oil slicks are consistent with the kind of fuel slicks that will be created by 2 airliner engines in a crash.

After spotting the oil slicks, the air search was suspended due to visibility as night fell. The search resumes on Sunday.
