Tegan and Sara, who started in Calgary playing in the city’s coffeehouses as an acoustic folk act, earned themselves four nominations for their breakout album Heartthrob and single Closer. Now, the Quin sisters split time between Vancouver, L.A., Montreal and New York.
Another Calgary nominee is U of C prof Allan Gordon Bell in the classical field, he is up for Composition of the Year running for his work Field Notes off of Gravity and Grace performed by the local Land’s End Chamber Ensemble.
