Russia got it right with the glamorous opening of the Winter Olympics in Sochi. The games had generated negative publicity about corruption in the cost of facilities estimated to be more than $50 Billion.
There was also serious concerns of security with some terrorist organization releasing video warning people against attending the games. This led to what the Russians call a "Ring of Steel" around the games with security forces coordinating with other agencies around the world to monitor possible threats.
But on Friday Feb 7, 2014 in the magic of the Olympic ceremony, the Russians delivered with spectacular displays, fireworks and calisthenics.
